Fundraising Policy & Status
We are moving closer to the deadline for saving this property. We know we are facing legal fees to file an injunction. We know that if we're successful, the property has to be purchased and that protection for the property itself must be implemented. At the Sept. 24 Coalition meeting, we unanimously agreed we have no resort but to begin official fundraising efforts. Because we know that scams are often spun off of serious and legitimate causes, we will do our best to publicize our efforts, our goals, and keep the public informed of all that we are doing.
- On Sept. 24, we elected Regina Woods (Gary Woods Photography) our treasurer. Regina can be reached during the business day at 865.429.3616. Wisdom Keepers, Inc., a Knoxville-based 501-c-3 organization, has agreed to be our fiscal agent until we are able to incorporate into our own entity. Donations can be made online through paypal links below or made out and mailed to Wisdom Keepers, Inc. c/o Regina Wood. In person donations will only be accepted during our protests.
- We will be collecting in person donations only during our schedule protests (see "Get Involved" for a list of scheduled protests.
- We are selling a "Preserve Two Rivers Point" T-shirt and will be offering it for sale through this website, through coalition members, and through active supporters. Information and an image of the design on the t-shirt are below.
- We will be sending a letter to organizations and foundations identified as supporters of the historic preservation of American Indian history and culture requesting their financial support.
Again, we want to forewarn you. If you are not certain whether the person attempting to collect the donation is authorized by the Two Rivers Coalition, please do NOT make the donation, buy the merchandise, etc. Attempt to get a name, address, phone number, etc., then report the person to tworivers at tnaim.org, or call Regina Woods at the number listed above.

While we remain hopeful the current owners and prospective buyer(s) will do the right thing and donate this property to an appropriate entity to ensure its preservation and protection for all time, we are preparing for the worst. We need to raise money for the following:
- To file an injunction against development of the site.
- To raise the purchase price plus $1 to buy the property outright
- To raise additional funds to purchase 5 additional lots (1 adjacent to and 4 facing the property) to ensure all of the site is preserved and protected (the adjacent single lot) and for the purpose of building a cultural center (the four facing lots).
- To raise additional funds to build the cultural center
- To raise additional funds to maintain and staff the cultural center.
